Over the weekend, when we received our wedding photos, I decided to build a very simple presentation website, similar to a Brochure Website. Just that easy, download and upload the WordPress to the server, setup the database and that’s it!
But yes, I needed a little customisation to make it look nice. The first thing I did was to search for a proper theme, for my photo blog and put it onto my blog.
Based on the theme and its files (css, template files etc.) just simply using the PHP & JS & CSS skills to modify the template. As long as I found which files to put the changes, I found it’s nothing from a normal PHP programming. Oh, I did get stuck sometimes but I was always looking for tutorials and Docs from WP site which is very handy and useful.
So, to setup Morris & Purple Photo Blog http://morrismorris.net/morris_purple, I’d just used 2 hours in total plus any images modification.
The point of using WP for Brochure is that once it is setup, even non-programmer can edit it without understanding the underlying codes, using the visual editor. So any minor tweets should never require a developer to get involved. Even sometimes a customisation is required, it doesn’t seem to be hard to find out where to change.
All in all, I think I am entering a more interested programming area.

It was another fantastic night with the company lads. I wasn’t the best driver and didn’t have a good start neither.
My car went down not even before I can drive it. Having been lapped a round I finally drove into the track and started my practice. Bad luck and not very good condition.
In Zhu Hai, China, it wasn’t like that hot and it doesn’t come out with a lot of rule and penalties. Have to admit, in England, people are doing very well in safety and security. The uniform was the thing killing me and made me sick. I guessed I was nervous at the beginning and didn’t play any drifting with full power. I had to give my position out to people and I needed to pay extra attentions on the roads for lights, signals etc. It increased my pressure a lot!
I misunderstood the signal, ‘Penalty’ instead of ‘Pedals’ and then I penalised myself in the bin for 30secs! Couldn’t believe there was any way that I can catch up but then I found it was easier to focus on the route. My drifting didn’t make a guy happy. He showed me at least 9 times “Calm Down” and uncountable slowing-down handshakes very time I passed him. To quote Vince’s words, “Is is because I made too much noise and looked unstable”? When I learned to play this in China, I learned karting never goes straight line….Am I missing something?
Anyway, it was a very good experience to play karting in England. Big thank you for Vince and Phil who provided this chance. Didn’t have a good camera so just took very limited numbers of photos and videos. What a joy!

Only few people have predicted that Spain can go into the final, and even got the world cup. But now they did it! I only loved Spain because Iker Casillas, who played the goal keeper for Real Madrid.
The final was a fantastic one to enjoy. Both teams have done very well though a lot of cards were given. I’ve seen both teams equally made great opportunities towards a goal but the defense level was just fantastic.
The game changed since the red card appeared. And Iniesta just did the right thing to strike a goal while Dutch were still complaining the Ref.
Spain won not only because they attacked, defensed but also because they worked very well as a whole team, strictly. I am not sure the right or wrong about the Ref but one thing I can see is Spain did less complain and put more focus on the ball. They were one of the teams who gained not many yellows in the world cup final. Dutch lost their faith in the game and then lost their mind to everything at the end.
For this fellow, Casillas, I’ve been watching him on the ground since 1999, for club and international matches. When he cried, my tears couldn’t stop coming out. I liked this man, liked his faith to the victory. Without his two brilliant saves, Robben could have got two goals. I just hope he can play as long as he can, which will be a great wish from me, no matters what happens!
It’s said to say the world cup is over. I seem to go back to the normal me. Happily, Purple starts knowing why all other football fans are so excited about the world cup. She will become a great great football fans when the next word cup comes. And by then, I wish we could be able to watch the game in the stadium.

Thanks to every’s effort to the award. It was a fantastic evening and we were the first one to go on the stage for the award!
“For the first time this year, this category combined entries from both classic ecommerce businesses and companies that were using the web or mobile to deliver or significantly enhance their performance: quite a challenge to judge. However, the judges felt that the winner had applied an interesting online commercial model to a traditional offline leisure business and provided excellent evidence of how this had transformed the operation.”
Pure Gym is a new concept in the leisure industry: a 24/7, contract free, no frills gym based in the heart of UK cities: This concept is underpinned by a new online management system. Processes that required human intervention or that hindered clients accessing facilities have been replaced by automated user-friendly procedures. The Pure Gym system is now being rolled out to support 20 more new gyms. The competitive advantage for Pure Gym is tremendous. Rival enterprises have recognised the danger posed by this new system and are now investing heavily in order to compete on price and service.
