WordPress is the ideal solution for Brochure Website

Over the weekend, when we received our wedding photos, I decided to build a very simple presentation website, similar to a Brochure Website. Just that easy, download and upload the WordPress to the server, setup the database and that’s it!

But yes, I needed a little customisation to make it look nice. The first thing I did was to search for a proper theme, for my photo blog and put it onto my blog.

Based on the theme and its files (css, template files etc.) just simply using the PHP & JS & CSS skills to modify the template. As long as I found which files to put the changes, I found it’s nothing from a normal PHP programming. Oh, I did get stuck sometimes but I was always looking for tutorials and Docs from WP site which is very handy and useful.

So, to setup Morris & Purple Photo Blog http://morrismorris.net/morris_purple, I’d just used 2 hours in total plus any images modification.

The point of using WP for Brochure is that once it is setup, even non-programmer can edit it without understanding the underlying codes, using the visual editor. So any minor tweets should never require a developer to get involved. Even sometimes a customisation is required, it doesn’t seem to be hard to find out where to change.

All in all, I think I am entering a more interested programming area.

11 Out Of 10 Go Karting

It was another fantastic night with the company lads. I wasn’t the best driver and didn’t have a good start neither. :(  My car went down not even before I can drive it. Having been lapped a round I finally drove into the track and started my practice. Bad luck and not very good condition.

In Zhu Hai, China, it wasn’t like that hot and it doesn’t come out with a lot of rule and penalties. Have to admit, in England, people are doing very well in safety and security. The uniform was the thing killing me and made me sick. I guessed I was nervous at the beginning and didn’t play any drifting with full power. I had to give my position out to people and I needed to pay extra attentions on the roads for lights, signals etc. It increased my pressure a lot!

I misunderstood the signal, ‘Penalty’ instead of ‘Pedals’ and then I penalised myself in the bin for 30secs! Couldn’t believe there was any way that I can catch up but then I found it was easier to focus on the route. My drifting didn’t make a guy happy. He showed me at least 9 times “Calm Down” and uncountable slowing-down handshakes very time I passed him. To quote Vince’s words, “Is is because I made too much noise and looked unstable”? When I learned to play this in China,  I learned karting never goes straight line….Am I missing something?

Anyway, it was a very good experience to play karting in England. Big thank you for Vince and Phil who provided this chance. Didn’t have a good camera so just took very limited numbers of photos and videos. What a joy!
